How This Assignment Works
Welcome, everyone! This is your official course assignment for IT Project Management. This assignment will span several weeks—progress is expected weekly during class. Don’t rush; this is an ongoing project, and final submission will happen at semester’s end as a complete PC-1 document. For now, just follow these three steps!
Task 1: Pick Your Project Ideas
-
Choose three different project ideas by the end of this week.
-
Each project must be from a separate category:
-
Research Project
-
Software Development
-
Business Project
-
-
Select them based on your interests, future goals, or professional background.
-
At this point, you only need the titles/project types. More detail comes later!
Task 2: Do a Mini Feasibility & Requirement Report
For each project, write a report that defines:
-
Project Objectives
-
Project Scope
-
Key Deliverables or Objectives
-
Stakeholders (Internal & External)
-
Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
-
Project Organization & Resources (OBS)
-
Project Costing (CBS)
-
Schedule/Timeline
-
Procurement/Contract Strategy
-
Risk Management Approach
-
Quality Management Plan
-
Change Management Approach
Task 3: Build Your Own Project Process Model
-
Design a custom process model for your three projects (as explained in Lecture 3).
-
Try to use the same model for all, and reflect on:
-
How well does it work for each project?
-
Is one model enough, or do you need three?
-
What changes would you make for each project type?
-
Consider:
-
What might cause your process model to fail?
-
What tweaks could make it flexible enough for all categories?
-
Start background research now for stronger results by semester’s end.
Questions to Answer
-
Is your process model successful on your projects?
-
Does a single model fit all, or are changes required?
-
What adjustments are necessary for the best fit?
-
When would your process model NOT work?
Submission
-
Final Due Date: End of semester (PC-I format)
-
Weekly Progress: Show your current status each week in class.
Stay organized, be creative, and remember—your work now sets the foundation for a potential research paper later! Good luck!
